Will write off farm loans if Congress wins Lok Sabha poll, says Rahul Gandhi

BIDAR: Ridiculing the ‘concern’ shown by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his speeches on improving the plight of the farming community, AICC President Rahul Gandhi on Monday dared him to prove he was true to his word by bearing fifty percent of the burden of farm loan waiver in Karnataka. Addressing the ‘Jana Dhwani Yatre’ programme organised here, Mr Gandhi said Mr Modi would not waive off a single paisa of farmer loans as he had no intention of improving their condition. “On the contrary he immediately waived Rs 2.5 lakh crore tax dues to be collected from 15 big industrialists in the country.

Mr Modi is not the prime minister of Hindustan, he is the PM of only 15 big industrialists.  In contrast, our government in the state has kept its word by waiving farmer loans. If my party is voted to power in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll, we will do everything that the farmers ask for including waiving their entire loans”, Mr Gandhi announced. The Congress president ridiculed the PM on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) announced for farmers recently by the Centre. “The benfit that the farmers will derive from this announcement is only Rs 10,000. On the contrary our government in Karnataka has announced loan waiver benefits three times this amount”, Mr Gandhi explained.

He launched a vitriolic attack on Mr Modi for his  promise to eradicate unemployment by generating two crore jobs every year. “Do you know what strategy Mr Modi has for tackling this problem? His plan is to make the youth sell pakodas by using the gas tapped from sewage. Another strategy Mr Modi has for the farming community is to ask them to run pumpsets on the gas collected from gobar gas pits in their fields. This is the strategy Mr Modi has for tackling the unemployment problem in Hindustan,” he said.
