A 22-year-old engineering student was mowed down by a truck near Thalaghattapura on Saturday.
The police said the victim, Ankita, was studying engineering in Delhi and had come to the city to complete her internship.
She was staying with three friends, who had also come for their internship, at Marathahalli.
The four students were on a weekend trip to tourist places near Kanakapura.
The victim was riding pillion on her friend Anubhavs Royal Enfield, the Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police said.
When they reached the NICE Junction near Thalaghattapura police station limits around 12.30 am, a speeding truck hit the bike from behind.
Anubhav and Ankita fell on the road and the truck ran over her. The driver fled from the spot along with the truck. Anubhav suffered minor injuries and was shifted to a nearby hospital. Ankita died on the spot.
The Kumaraswamy Layout police have registered a case, and a manhunt has been launched to nab the driver.
