Those doubting strength of mandate, wait and watch: Karnataka BJP tweets

Bengaluru: “To all those doubting the strength of our mandate, we just have to say: Wait and watch,” this is what the Karnataka BJP tweeted soon after the Supreme Court on Friday asked Yeddyurappa to take the floor test and prove BJP’s majority in the Karnataka Assembly at 4 pm tomorrow.

The party said that it is ready to prove the majority and has more than required number to sail through the floor test. It further said that it is “looking forward” to prove its mandate on Saturday.

Exuding confidence of having adequate number to prove the majority in the House, the BJP said it wants to make one thing “very clear”, “If people's mandate has to be vindicated again, so be it. Bring it on!”

BJP said the drama that has been staged by the Congress and the Janata Dal Secular will be known to the world tomorrow. It said, “JDS-Cong may pull all their plugs. But rest assured, we will emerge victorious tomorrow.”

The Karnataka BJP said that it has blessings of 6 crore Kannadigas who voted for change. Their aspirations and blessings will be respected and acknowledged.

Meanwhile, Union Minister and BJP’s Karnataka in-charge Prakash Javadekar tweeted, “BJP is ready and confident of winning trust vote in Karnataka. We will prove our majority on the floor of the House.”

The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the newly-sworn Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa to prove his party’s majority in the Assembly tomorrow.

The court's decision came at the crucial hearing on the Congress-JD(S) petition challenging Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala’s invitation to Yeddyurappa to form the government in state.

The Governor had given the BJP – which has 104 MLAs, 8 short of mark – 15 days to prove majority. The Congress-JD(S) combine has 116 MLAs, 4 more than the required 112.
