Realtors’ deaths: Bengaluru police exhume bodies

Bengaluru: The city police investigating the murder of two realtors, who went missing on June 27, exhumed the bodies and conducted a spot mahazar at Harohalli in Kaggalipura on the city outskirts on Sunday.They were murdered by their business partner over a financial row. On Saturday, the police had arrested three people, Tejas N., the prime accused, along with two associates Manikanta and Anil Kumar.

They were taken into 10 days of police custody for abducting and murdering the two realtors, Prasad Babu (47) a resident of RR Nagar and his friend A Balaji (44) of Girinagar.A special team from South division police reached Harohalli Industrial area on Sunday noon to exhume the bodies. The three accused were taken to the spot.

The mortal remains were found buried in a land, taken on lease by a private company. The police team exhumed them and sent it to forensic Science laboratory (FSL) for further examination. A senior police official said that based on the statements given by the accused, the team started the search operation and the skeletons were found after nearly four hours.

They went missing on June 27, when they had gone to meet Tejas, a realtor, to collect Rs 51 lakh, which Prasad earlier paid to him to purchase a site. After consulting an advocate, Prasad learnt that the site was under litigation and he wanted the money back.In their confession, the accused told the police that on June 27, Tejas had called both Prasad and Balaji to come to his office in J.P. Nagar.

They reached his office around 11 am. Around 3.30 pm he took them to Anjanapura under the pretext of returning the money. He and his seven associates kidnapped and took them to his farmhouse near Talaghattapura.

The victims’ hands were tied, they were gagged using tapes and brutally assaulted. The two died due to suffocation.

In order to get rid of the bodies, the accused took the same to Harohalli in Kanakapura Road on the same day and allegedly poured petrol on the bodies and set fire. They then buried the remains on the vacant land and left.
