The Supreme Court has stayed the seat allotment process. But the online option entry for admission to postgraduate medical and dental courses based on PG-NEET will continue as per schedule.
The mock allotment results scheduled to be announced on March 30 will be deferred till the final judgement in the case.
Medical Education director Dr S Sachidananda said the option-entry process will continue as per schedule. Further action will be taken based on the final judgement by the Supreme Court.
This year, the state government issued a notification that only students who were of Karnataka-origin would be eligible for seats in government colleges and government-quota seats in private colleges.
To be eligible for these seats, the students or their parents should have studied in the state for 10 years, the notification said.
Several students from outside the state who completed their undergraduate courses in Karnataka have approached the Supreme Court in this matter. On Tuesday, the court ordered that the allotment process on or after March 30 should be suspended till the judgement is delivered.
