Now online khata transfers under Sakala

Property owners in the city can now obtain khata transfers online by applying for it through the Sakala service.

The state government with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) included khata transfer under Sakala, the governments time-bound service, following complaints of delay by property owners.

“From now on, they can obtain it (khata transfers) online and at Bangalore One centres,” said BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad.

Although the khata transfers were a part of the Sakala scheme, the officers used to harass property owners. Owners have also complained about corruption, said Prasad.

Now, they can upload all documents such as Aadhar and related documents online and generate a one-time password (OTP) and get an authentication through an e-sign.

When the khata is ready, the officer concerned will digitally sign it and it will be available online for the owner, he said.

Under this scheme, the property owners are entitled to receive their services within a month.

“If they submit an application through Sakala for khata transfer, they will now get a Sakala acknowledgement number. This number will ensure that the citizens application electronically reaches the BBMP official concerned. The number will also enable property owners to check the status of their application at various levels,” said an official release by BBMP.

Property owners will also receive an SMS informing them the status of their application.

If a property owners application is rejected, a valid reason has to be communicated to them by an officer. “This is an attempt to reduce the use of paper and also ease the process to some extent,” said Prasad.
