After tasting success in constructing villas in Allur, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has now decided to take up more such projects.
The BDA has planned villas at Dasanapura, near Tumakuru Road, but will go slow on the construction of flats as the response from buyers has not been enthusiastic.
“We have received feedback that demand for villas is more. We searched for land and found 25 acres with us and decided to construct villas,” said a BDA official.
Earlier, the BDA constructed villas in Allur on 42 acres of land, where apartments were also created.
But in case of Dasanapura, the BDA plans to create villas along the lines of a private gated community.
In Allur, the BDA built rows of houses with common walls. But in Dasanapura, a garden space around each home will be created.
Dimensions, interiors and pricing will be on the higher side when compared to Allur, the official said.
The BDA took the decision after they saw a drop in the sale of sites in Kempegowda Layout and the slow pace of sale of flats at the across the table sales.
“People feel that purchasing a BDA site and then constructing a home will be too expensive. They now prefer villas, but ones offered by private builders are very expensive. So we have decided to tap this market,” the official added.
In Allur, 452 one, two and three BHK houses were constructed of which 425 were sold.
In Dasanapura, the BDA plans to construct 900 villas. Though the BDA has decided to fix the rates at around Rs 50 lakh, the final details will be decided by the BDA Board.
