Bengaluru: Working president of KPCC, Dinesh Gundurao, charged PM Modi with launching a vilification campaign against the state government while keeping mum about business czars who owed banks thousands of crores of rupees but fled the country. He flayed the PM while addressing the media here on Monday for reiterating that the state government headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was a ‘commission’ government during his ‘revolutionary’ speech in Mysuru. He also scoffed at the PM saying whether he meant the launch of a new train to link Mysuru and Udaipur was a revolutionary move. He said Mr Modi had alleged Karnataka was allotted 3.36 lakh houses for the poor under Prime Minister Awaaz Yojana, but the state government had constructed only 38,000. “How could any government to be so casual and careless, he asked. In fact, under PMAY, there were two components-one of urban and the other of rural. The share of the Union government is very less. Under PMAY (urban), 2.90 lakh houses had been constructed at a cost of Rs 14,764 crores of which the share of the Union government was Rs 4357 crores and the state’s share, Rs 9157 crores. Ouf of this share of Rs 4357 crore, the Union government had released only Rs 345 crore which was not even 10 per cent of its share. Despite this, the state government had spent its own funds for completion of 21,905 houses while construction of 38,000 houses was under progress.
Mr Rao said under PMAY (rural), during 2016-17 and 2017-18, 1.45 lakh houses were sanctioned of which 1.37 lakh houses were completed. The share of the Union government was Rs 1088 crore of which only Rs 696 crore had been released. "This clearly shows how Mr Modi is misleading people by giving wrong statistics in a public meeting," he added.
