Mysuru: Heart wrenching scenes were witnessed at Vadesamudra and neighbouring villages as bodies of victims of bus accident near Kanaganamaradi village, in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district, arrived along with grieving relatives Saturday afternoon.
Two survivors, Girish, a carpenter, and Rohit, a 12 year-old boy, both hailing from Vadesamudra, were in a state of shock as most of their neighbours died in the accident. Girish, who managed to swim across the canal after escaping from one of the windows, rushed to rescue Rohit. “Had the bus fallen towards right side, many passengers could have escaped from the door but it fell towards left side,” recalled Girish. “It is unbelievable for me to accept the fact that I have survived miraculously when all my co-passengers died. I am deeply pained to see all those who travelled with me are no more within a few moments. I don't know what exactly happened or how driver lost control, all that I remember was when we all screamed at once when the bus all of a sudden, fell into water," he said in a voice choked with emotion.
