Karnataka is gearing up for an international millet festival on Friday. It will host the countrys top chefs who spoke about the benefits of millets.
The Agriculture department is hosting the organics and millets international fair. Among some of the most popular chefs in the city who talked about using organic food and millet for consumption were executive Chef, Ramasamy Selvaraju of Taj Vivanta, master chef Shazia Khan, executive chef of Radisson Blue, Kashi Vishwanath and others.
“While most restaurateurs focus on using millets for traditional foods like dosa, idli, and bisi-bele bath, it is important for us to recreate cuisines from all over the world with millets. We have come up with millet-based recipes for pastas, stews, pizzas, cakes, pastries, and even ice creams.” said Chef Selvaraj.
Minister of agriculture, Krishna Byre Gowda said in an earlier event which marked the precursor of the international fair that the millet festival gives an opportunity for the farmers to exhibit and promote their product.
In an interactive session with the media, chefs from various hotels of the city said that the millet festival will change the perception of millets among the public.
The millet festival will have fusion food, delicacies and contemporary cuisines with organics and millets.
