BENGALURU: The visit to her sister's house on Sunday noon turned a nightmare for a 24-year-old entrepreneur and founder of a start-up in Bengaluru when three men allegedly passed lewd comments at her asking, "What can she do? She is wearing a skirt and not even pants." It all happened because she objected to the three men abusing her for parking her car on the road near their house. What was even more disappointing was that despite informing the police, the cops did not act against the three miscreants. The incident took place off New BEL Road, Jalahalli.
The woman, who felt insecure, left the place and later reported the incident to the Bengaluru police. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Sanskriti said, "I had plans to meet my sister who lives on New BEL Road. As planned I went to visit her on Sunday noon. After I reached near her house, I was trying to get parking space in a by-lane and saw that there were big stones which were kept on the road to block the space,"
Sankriti further said that when she got out of the car to remove the stones which were blocking a public road, three men started shouting at her. "There is no official sign prohibiting public parking. Only a roughly scrawled 'No parking' warning was visible on the wall. When I started to remove the stones blocking the public road, a man started to shout at me. When I tried to reason and said it's a public road and no one can block it, three more men came on the balcony and started to abuse me saying if I left my car there, they would damage it."
According to the complainant, one of the miscreants tried to intimidate her by calling someone over phone and giving out her details. However, the parking row turned nightmarish when the miscreants threatened the woman and said, "What can she do? She is wearing a skirt and not even pants." Sanskriti, who was worried over her safety, left the place before taking their pictures. When contacted, Deputy Commissioner of police (North) Chetan Singh Rathore assured that suitable action will be taken against the men if they are found involved in the incident.
