Hassan: Minister for Public Works and Hassan district in-charge H.D. Revanna on Saturday alleged that a few industrialists, who owned plots at the KIADB industrial area here, had not set up their units but had availed themselves of government subsidy.
He told reporters that one of the industrialists, who had purchased 400 acres of land some years ago, had not set up any unit there. But he managed to get crores of rupees as subsidy from the government, stating that he was imparting skill development training to students.
Revanna said that there were many such cases at the industrial area in Hassan. Farmers, who had parted with their land for industries, were yet to get the promised jobs. Such farmers had now become daily wage earners. Stating that he suspected a bigger scam in KIADB, the minister said that he had brought the matter to the notice of Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and urged him to order an investigation into it.
