Four students injured as classroom roof collapses

Four students were injured as a portion of the roof of a classroom came crashing down on them at government first grade degree college at Malur here on Saturday.

The injured are Asha, Aruna, Mamtha and Monisha, all first year BSc students.

The incident took place when a lecturer had engaged the class. There were 40 students in the class and all of them ran outside the classroom after the portion of the roof collapsed.

The students were taken to a nearby hospital and were treated at outpatients.

Aruna has sustained more injuries on her head.

The college principal Keshav Reddy said that the new building was constructed about three years ago and the incident took place due to low quality construction work.

He said that desks were also damaged in the incident.
