BENGALURU: A blame game broke out over devastation wrought by floods in Kodagu district with deputy chief minister Dr. G. Parameshwara slamming the Union government for not sanctioning any relief funds for the rain-ravaged coffee land.
Slamming state BJP leaders for not persuading Prime Minister Narendra Modi to carry out an aerial survey of Kodagu, Dr Parameshwara told the media that the leader could have viewed damaged caused by floods in Kodagu while doing so to assess the destruction in Kerala. "During his aerial survey of flood affected areas of Kerala, he could have spared some time for Kodagu," he said adding that the Union government had not been forthcoming with financial assistance for relief and rehabilitation work in the district.
On Thursday, former chief minister Siddaramaiah too appealed to Mr Modi to visit Kodagu district and release central funds for instant relief work and restoration of connectivity between villages within the district on one hand and the district with surrounding areas.
