Kalaburagi: Calling BJP leaders a band of looters, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday appealed to voters here not to bring them back to power as they would plunder the state.
“Who are these fellows? Yeddyurappa, Janardhan Reddy, Somashekhar Reddy, Siramulu and Shobha (Karandlaje)? They are the ones who looted this state and went to jail. They have all come together now to fight the elections. Under no circumstance should they be brought to power, because they will plunder the state again," he warned, addressing a public meeting in Afzalpur town.
Ridiculing the announcement by state BJP chief, B S Yeddyurappa that he would take oath as Chief Minister on May 17 as the BJP's victory was a foregone conclusion, he said, "It’s a hundred per cent certain that Yeddyurappa will not become Chief Minister again. Who will accept him as Chief Minister? He was given power once, but he lost it, because he went to jail for receiving a kickback through a cheque. Should someone, who has been to jail become a Chief Minister again?” he asked.
Mr Siddaramaiah also blasted Mr Yeddyurappa for his assurance on waiving off farmers' loans if the BJP was voted to power. "How many tongues does he have? When he was the Deputy Chief Minister he opposed the move to waive off farmers loans and when I led a delegation to the Prime Minister, no BJP leader uttered a word when the he refused to waive off the central loans," he recalled.
Senior Congress leader, Mallikarjun Kharge tore into Mr Yeddyurappa for making "filthy" remarks against the Chief Minister. "The RSS is said to be a disciplined organisation. But look at the kind of words Mr Yeddyuappa is uttering. He is speaking out of frustration," he claimed.
