Cultural extravaganza marks Founder’s Day

Jnanasarovara International Residential School, Mysuru, celebrated Founder’s Day on Jan.12 at the Amphitheatre.

Muralidar, former FKCCI President, was the chief guest. Captain Naveen Nagappa and Most Rev. Dr. K.A. William, Bishop of Mysuru, were the guests of honour. Chairman Sudhakar S. Shetty presided. Madam Secretary Sukalatha Shetty, CEO Pavan Kumar Shetty, Young Trustee Sheethal Shetty, Apoorva Shetty, Management Committee Members, Administrative Officers, Parents, patrons and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion. School report was presented by Principal D. Karunakar.

The cultural extravaganza of the evening comprised of unique events like Mohiniattam, Yakshagana, Bhangra and other Classical forms and dances dedicated to parents and teachers.

Captain Naveen Nagappa, in his address, spoke about his experience at Kargil War. The veteran proudly stated that the three stars on his shoulder were equal to 1,000 stars in the galaxy. He related vivid memories of his 50 days of counter-insurgency operation when he had to sustain severe leg injuries. He exhorted the parents to give freedom to children if they wanted to serve the Nation and that would be the best gift to the country.

Muralidar, in his keynote address, expressed his anguish that the history books do not provide lessons from the past to instil nationalist pride in young children. Schooling in India is like a prison. Given a choice, our children wish to fly abroad to earn handsome income. We should provide scope for all-round development of the child.

Bishop Dr. William lamented that the present day education doesn’t make children to “relate.” The importance of human relationship is declining. Children should develop strong bond with God, friends, parents, teachers, neighbours and ecology.
