Mysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declined to join the issue with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the latter’s comments about the state government but dismissed the rally addressed by the leader in Mysuru as “just another rally” here on Monday.
He told the media here that the BJP lacked a significant support base in Old Mysore region and therefore the rally would not make any impact on the people. “Have they won in any of the districts in this region?” he asked.
Asked to comment on the railway double line project, he said: “For the railway doubling project and electrification between Bengaluru and Mysuru, the state government has contributed significant amount of resources.” For the doubling work taken up at the cost at the cost of Rs 990 crores, the state government contributed two-thirds or Rs 581 crores, while the Union government chipped in with one-third or Rs 409 crores. Besides, the state government contributed 50 per cent for electrification work taken up at a cost of Rs 220 crores.
