City skaters to represent India in Asian, World Championships

Skaters from Mysuru — Varsha S. Puranik and Rea Elizabeth Achaiah in the women’s section and Omkar Yograj in the men’s section — have earned selection to represent India in the World Speed Skating Championships to be held at Netherlands and Asian Speed Skating Championships to be held at South Korea.

The selection trials are being held in Gurugram from May 7 and Varsha Puranik has won the 1st place in the women’s section and Rea Elizabeth Achaiah also has earned selection with her performance in the selection trials. Omkar Yograj has won the third place in the selection trials and has earned selection for the Championships.

All the three skaters are being coached by K. Srikantha Rao of Rao Roller Skating Club, Mysuru, who is a Ekalavya Award winner and also Indian coach.
