BENGALURU: The Central Board of Secondary Education will re-conduct the board examinations held for Economics (Class 12) and Mathematics (Class 10).
The circular issued on Monday late afternoon by Controller of Examinations K.K. Choudhury stated the board had taken cognisance of certain happenings in the conduct of certain examinations. “With the view to uphold the sanctity of the Board Examinations and in the interest of fairness to the students, the board has decided to re-conduct the exams,” the circular stated.
The decision was notified within a couple of hours after the students completed their exam. Very little did they expect that they had to prepare and attend the exam once again as many were looking forward to their much awaited vacation plans.
“What did we do to face this? I just got to know from my parents that we have no choice but to attend the exam again. I was very confident that I’ll score well today, but now I feel tensed about the re-exam,” said Arjun U, a class 10 student.
Reacting to the issue, President of the Managements of Independent CBSE Schools Association (MICSA) M. Srinivasan said the incident indicates that the board has to take comprehensive steps to ensure their efficiency in conducting exams at the large scale.
“Even though such an issue from any exam conducted by the CBSE was not heard of in the past few years, it is high time that the Board should pull up its socks to ensure this doesn’t get repeated,” he said. Lakhs of people, be it the students, parents and even officials being affected just because of some crooked minds, is totally unfortunate, he added.
As many as 11,86,306 students had signed up for Class 12 exams this year while 16,38,428 students had registered for Class 10 exams. The revised dates and other details will be notified on the CBSE website within a week.
