BMRCL floats tenders for the ORR metro line

A little over a week after the state cabinet approved the innovative finance model for the Outer Ring Road metro project, the BMRCL has floated tenders for civil work on the 19.45-km elevated line.

The Phase 2A line connects the heavily congested section of the ORR between the Central Silk Board junction and KR Puram which, built under Phase 2, will act as an interchange station between east-west and ORR lines.

The total cost of the line was estimated at Rs 4,202 crore, with the BMRCL told to raise at least Rs 1,100-crore private investment.

Two companies have
promised Rs 200 crore investment.

The cost of the civil work has been estimated at Rs 1,229.95 crore, which will be executed in three separate packages as designed by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

While the ballpark figure for Silk Board-Bellandur section (7 km), with four stations, is Rs 427.29 crore, the Bellandur-Doddanekkundi section (6.5 km), with five stations, will cost Rs 416.66 crore.

The Doddanekkundi-KR Puram section (5.9 km) will be built at Rs 386 crore.

Detailed tender documents which set deadlines for the civil works were not available. The date for sale tender documents and the deadline for
submission vary for each package.

By April 20, however, bidding for all the three packages will be over.
