Hubballi: Raising the pitch in the battle for North Karnataka, BJP national president, Amit Shah declared on Friday that the saffron party would become the “voice of its people”, who were neglected by the Congress government. “Their anger against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will turn into votes for the BJP, “ he asserted.
Once again asserting that Karnataka would be the BJP's gateway to south India and the journey of its victory would start from here, he exhorted his party workers to work unitedly to achieve this goal.
Mr Shah, who was addressing a convention of Shakti Kendra leaders of 33 Assembly constituencies of Belagavi division in Mudhol town, Bagalkot district kept up the relentless labelling of the state government as a '10 per cent Sarkar' , observing that Mr Siddaramaiah was the only Chief Minister who wore a watch worth Rs 40 lakh “bought from bribe money.”
He also grilled the heads of the Shakti Kendras about their strategies and membership drive to win the Assembly elections and directed them to strictly follow the 19-point proforma drafted by him to bring the BJP to power in Karnataka.,
Mr Shah later held a meeting with senior leaders, Prakash Javadekar and Piyush Goyal , who are in charge of the Karnataka elections, to discuss the second list of party candidates at a hotel in Hubballi.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, state BJP president B.S. Yeddyurappa revealed the second list of party candidates would be announced on April 15.
"Another round of discussion will be held by the election committee meeting in New Delhi on Saturday," he said. He once again asserted that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah would suffer defeat from both constituencies he may contest from.
Responding to the anger of party workers against BJP MP, Sriramulu in Molakalmuru, he said he was capable of handling the situation.
