Bengaluru: TenderSure Phase III after polls, says BBMP Official

Bengaluru: BBMP has said that the Phase-III project of TenderSure roads, which will cover 13 roads, will be completed only after elections as most of them are currently in the initial stages.

The third phase, which will totally cover a stretch of 20 km across the city, was sanctioned under Nagarothana scheme at the cost of Rs 200 crore. Of the 13 roads only Church Street work is nearing completion, while work order has been issued for six roads on September 28, 2017, while the rest are still awaiting tender confirmation.

“The road near Church Street is almost complete and the preliminary work is in progress for Majestic and K.R. Market roads,” said K.T.  Nagaraj, BBMP Chief Engineer and in-charge for TenderSure Projects.

The Palike floated the tenders for development of these TenderSure roads in March, 2017, but there has been a significant delay in processing the tender. “Out of 13 roads, there are six roads which are in tender process. We have called tenders for the second time for some roads.

It usually takes time for projects like these and now it will complete only after the elections,” Nagaraj added.

The roads under TenderSure Phase 3 are: Church Street, Subedar Chatram Road, Gubbe Totadappa Road, Dhanvanthri Road, W.H. Hanumanrappa Road, and roads around Gandhi Nagar (Majestic), K.R. Market, K.G. Road, roads around Kalasipalyam, Malleswaram, Palace road, Museum Cross road and Brigade Road.

V Ravichandar, urban expert said, “Now that they have gained experience with phases 1 and 2, the construction of the third phase should not take much time, even though such projects require time in the shifting of utilities and making provision for space.”

When asked about the on-going white topping project which gained quite hype in the city, Nagaraj said “Both projects are different, white-topping might have received sudden attention, but there is no delay in TenderSure projects.”

However, Ravichandar stressed that coordination between the different agencies involved in the project plays a vital role in the implementation of such projects.
