Bengaluru: Techie robbed while on call near his house

Bengaluru: A techie was robbed of his valuables at knifepoint by two unidentified robbers in Madiwala police station limits early Sunday.

The incident happened when the victim, identified as Abhishek, a resident of Venkatapur in Madiwala and a software engineer with a private company, was talking over his phone near his house.

At around 2 am, Abhishek had come out of his house and was talking over the phone with his friend. All of a sudden, two men on a bike stopped in front of him. The pillion rider approached him with a knife and demanded his mobile phone and his wallet and fled the spot. Abhishek who did not dare to resist the robbery bid as the robbers had sharp knives, approached Madiwala police and lodged a complaint. The police have registered a case and are investigating. Madiwala and surrounding areas has a considerable population of IT employees and it is always vulnerable to robberies. Most of these crimes are committed by small-time rowdies who target people returning late from their offices at night.

The police too have increased night patrolling in the Madiwala and surrounding areas due to a large number of robbery complaints.
