Bengaluru: Realtor, suffering from losses, shoots self dead

Bengaluru:  A 45-year-old businessman allegedly shot himself dead with his licensed revolver at his residence in Friends Layout in HAL police limits under the Whitefield division on Monday afternoon.

The police said that the deceased, Vijay Kumar Chaurasia, ran a construction business  VKC Company, and had suffered big losses.

Around 1.30 pm, Vijay shot himself, even as his son was sleeping in the bedroom. His wife had gone out on a personal errand. Vijay, who was believed to be depressed over his monetary loss, went into the bathroom, shot himself in the head and died instantly, the police said.

Hearing the gun shots, neighbours rushed to help, but found the bathroom door locked from inside. They alerted the police, who came to the spot and recovered the body. The initial probe revealed that Vijay was depressed because of losses in his business.

The police shifted the body for postmortem and based on the statement of his family, registered a case under Section 174 of CrPC.
