Bengaluru: A 22-year-old BBA student died on the spot and another was injured after a speeding lorry crashed into their bike in Chikkajala traffic police limits early on Friday morning.
The deceased, Fiza Khan, hailed from Uttar Pradesh and was staying at the college hostel in Hegadenagar. Her friend, Kamal, has sustained injuries and is being treated at a private hospital, where his condition is said to be normal.
The police said that both were BBA students at a private college in Hegadenagar and Kamal was riding the bike, while Fiza was on the pillion.
Fiza had gone out for a party with her friends and around 2 am, she and Kamal were returning to their hostel when the lorry rammed their bike from behind near Narayanapura signal on Thanisandra Main Road. The two, who were tossed into the air, crashed on the road. Passersby rushed them to a nearby hospital where Fiza was declared brought dead.
The Chikkajala traffic police rushed to the spot and seized the lorry. The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.
The Chikkajala traffic police registered a case.
