Bengaluru: State BJP President and the party’s Chief Ministerial candidate B.S.Yeddyurappa on Thursday dropped a bombshell alleging that Water Resources Minister M.B. Patil had received a kickback of Rs 25 crore from M/s National Projects Construction Corporation Limited to award an Upper Bhadra project tender to them.
Releasing documents pertaining to the award of the tender to these companies which had allegedly furnished bogus ‘work done’ certificates, Mr Yeddyurappa went to the extent of demanding a narco- analysis test on Mr Patil and officers of Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam, Mr Cheluvaraj and Krishnamurthy.
Visvesvaraya Jala Bhagya Nigam Limited had called for tenders for the Upper Krishna Project which costs Rs 4999.99 crore.
Officers in Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam, allegedly appointed by Mr Patil, illegally awarded the tender to two companies.
The National Projects Construction Corporation Limited got the tender to take up 2.9 km of work on the Chitradurga Canal at an estimated cost of Rs 157.94 crore and the work order was issued to this company on January 1, 2018.
Another company, M/s Amma Constructions India Pvt. Ltd also was awarded the tender for the work.
According to the KTPP Act, to win a tender, a company have must produce ‘work done’ certificate from its previous projects.
But it was found that both contractors had provided bogus work done certificates, claimed the BJP president.
These companies had obtained work done certificates from the Manipur and Tripura governments. After enquiring and finding that these certificates were bogus, it was prepared by the officials of Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam to award tender to both the companies, Mr. Yeddyurappa claimed while addressing a press conference.
Even the Manipur and Tripura governments have clarified that they have not issued any work done certificates to these companies.
In fact, both the state governments have clarified that they don’t’ have an executive engineer’s post, Mr Yeddyurappa added.
