Anganwadi workers, betel leaf growers stage protest

Urging the authorities to transfer Child Development Project Officer Shivalingappa for displaying dictatorship behaviour and fulfilment of various demands, more than 100 people, under the banner of Federation of Karnataka State Anganwadi Activists and Assistants, staged a protest in front of the DC’s office in city this morning.

Their other demands included deposit of money for purchase of vegetables and eggs, which is pending since four months, formation of complaint committee and payment of monthly salary on 5th of every month. Federation President Brahmarambika, State Board Member D. Jagannath, Farzana, Mahadevamma, Manjula and others were present.

Picture below shows Members of the Betel Leaf Growers Land Struggle Committee (Veelyadele Bhu Horata Samiti) staging a semi-nude protest in front of the DC’s Office in city this morning demanding Title Deeds of the land for the 245 betel leaf growers from the Mysuru City Corporation immediately.

They also demanded two acres of land to betel leaf growers and jobs for at least one member of the family of land-losers. Earlier, nearly 250 members took out a semi-nude march from the Law Courts to the DC’s office.
