Air Odisha flights from Mysuru to Chennai, Hyderabad likely from March

Mysuru:  Air Odisha, the second airline that had bid for the Mysuru-Chennai-Hyderabad sector is likely to start its operations from Mysore Airport from March this year.

TruJet is already operating flights between Mysuru-Chennai-Hyderabad, as part of UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagarik) scheme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The two services were allotted in the first round of UDAN bidding in March last year.

Officials said that the Salem-Bengaluru-Salem and Mysuru-Chennai-Mysuru has been awarded to Air Odisha and it is likely to start operations from next month. According to the scheme, up to 40 seats in such flights would have a cap of Rs.2,500 per seat/ hour.

However, it may be recalled that Air Odisha, which was to launch its operations from Nov.30, had been delayed and the air operator had postponed it to Jan.31 of this year. The   delay continued and now the operation has moved to next month.

Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, Mysuru Airport Director Manoj Kumar Singh, said, “We have still not received any official confirmation regarding the start of the new airline Air Odisha to Mysuru-Chennai-Mysuru. Hence, we cannot comment right now.”
